Every spring the same question returns: which lead-up races actually tell you something about the Cup? The answer changes with the tracks, the weights and the travelling stayers, but the pattern is familiar enough to plan around.
This is a sample story written to show how long-form pieces will read on Miller’s Guide. It sits where the Racing Desk’s real carnival preview will go, with form lines, sectional data and the trainers’ own words.
Why the lead-up matters
Stayers are built, not found. A horse that peaks on the right day has usually been placed with care through a sequence of runs that stretch it a little further each time.
